Chilopsis linearis
The desert willow (Chilopsis linearis) is an attractive medium sized tree that has captivated people’s attention so much that it is already used in landscaping in the entire southwestern area of the country. The tree blooms a few times a year, beautiful tubular flowers that attract pollinators such as hummingbirds and butterflies. In the wild Mojave Desert, seeing this tree is an indication of water, either from groundwater, a spring, or a wet wash.
The leaves, flowers, and bark are used to make a tea for coughs. The flowers provide beneficial anit-oxidant properties that naturally promotes cardiovascular health.
